Holland Baroque will go to Suriname in May 2022 for a musical encounter with the students of the School for Young Talent in Paramaribo. We do this together with the talented singers Lucretia Starke and Arturo den Hartog. They attended this choir school as children and they now study at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague.
For a week we will do all kinds of things together with the students of the School for Young Talent. On Sunday 8 May, Holland Baroque will give a concert in the Houten Cathedral in Paramaribo. And in November young people from the choir school will come to the Netherlands to complete the exchange. They can then be heard, together with Holland Baroque, during the closing concert of Utrecht 900 in TivoliVredenburg.
The reason for this initiative is that there is a children’s choir in Suriname that is involved in classical music at such a high level. Holland Baroque wants to support these qualities in Suriname and show in the Netherlands how wonderful the youth there is sung in choirs. In this way we connect our orchestra with the choir school and the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.
Holland Baroque has started a crowdfunding campaign for the School for Young Talent in Paramaribo. The school’s music room is in need of a thorough refurbishment and Holland Baroque would like to make this possible – together with you.
