Overview

Fast and virtuoso music from the sunny south featuring traditional tarantellas and music by Antonio Vivaldi, Luigi Boccherini, Giuseppe Valentini, Francesco Geminiani and others.

The tarantella is said to have once worked wonders as dance therapy against spider poison. Like the Fandango, Folia and other folk dances in which madness leads to energetic and virtuosic pieces, wild dance was a grateful source of inspiration for Baroque composers.
