The opulence of the baroque and the swing of gospel meet in this exuberant Christmas concert. Judith Steenbrink: “In the richness of our repertoire and the meeting with our wonderful friends of the London Community Gospel Choir, we find the freedom to create something new. Baroque is also the start of something new for us. We began out of interest in each other’s repertoire and here we are now: with a swinging Christmas concert The Birth of Gospel. Baroque and gospel are alive and kicking!
“An inspired, swinging and dazzling evening.” ★★★★☆ (Volkskrant about Gospel Baroque 2019)
The singers of the choir and the musicians of Holland Baroque bring the top of their respective specialties and enjoy each other’s musical wealth in this Christmas concert. Ennis Langdon, singer with the London Community Gospel Choir, on the experience of Gospel Baroque in 2019: “Judith and Tineke Steenbrink of Holland Baroque are passionate and perceptive. They bring their classical background and immerse themselves in our music. I have been singing with the LCGC since 1994 and year after year, time after time, our projects keep getting better. The collaboration with Holland Baroque is the icing on the cake for me. This experience has taken me to another level. I’m in seventh heaven, really.””
