Polonoise is for curious listeners who want to get to know Telemann from a different angle. Telemann combines the noble and proud tradition of the Polonaise with his characteristic witty ideas. His manuscript ‘Danse d’Polonie’ (TWV45) was the inspiration for this album. In it, he notated the dances he heard during his stay in Poland.

Drawing on this collection, Holland Baroque, together with the Canadian violinist Aisslinn Nosky, explored how Telemann incorporated the Polish style into his own works. ‘Polonoise’ takes the listener on a journey through wild nature, rolling mountains and pubs in picturesque Polish villages.
