Holland Baroque is launching a new album entitled Silk Baroque together with the renowned label Pentatone. On the album, the Chinese sheng player Wu Wei is a guest with Holland Baroque, which leads to a program full of baroque music with beautiful sheng sounds. The music has been arranged by our artistic team, Judith and Tineke Steenbrink.

Speaking about this special collaboration, Wu Wei says, “Baroque music is like light. It touches you and attracts your attention whether you want it or not. You get caught in it and I mean both in positivity, and in nostalgia, and heartbreaking sorrow.”

View the Silk Baroque playlist on our Youtube channel and make sure you have good speakers or headphones, that is worth it. Because everything revolves around the beauty of the sound.

Silk Baroque: bestel nu!

Wu Wei is a virtuoso on the sheng, the Chinese mouth organ that evokes three thousand years of Chinese music culture and is a small miracle of harmony, melody, and rhythmic possibilities. Picturesque improvisations effortlessly navigate between repertoire from different centuries and continents. In addition to compositions by Bach, Telemann and Rameau, the album contains traditional Chinese music. NRC
